What Happens At A Chiropractic Visit With Dr. Currington
What to expect at Dr. Currington's Dallas clinic: what your first visit involves, what a regular visit looks like, insurance, payment and the popping sound.
If you've never been to a chiropractor, the hardest part is often not knowing what you're walking into. So here's how it goes at our clinic, from the first form to a regular visit down the road.
Your First Visit
Your first visit is about getting to know each other. It goes in four steps:
- Paperwork: Like most offices, it starts with a few forms about your health and history.
- An exam: Dr. Currington does a physical exam and takes any X-rays needed to find the cause of your pain.
- A plan: You go over the results and your goals together, then build a plan made for you.
- What's next: You learn your treatment, how to prepare and when to expect results, plus lifestyle changes that can help.
A Regular Visit
Once you have a plan, visits are shorter and more hands-on. We filmed one recently, start to finish, with no script. That day it was work on the back, then the neck, then a towel stretch for the neck, then sitting up and walking around before heading out. Your visits will follow your plan, so they may look different.
Does It Hurt?
Most patients feel no pain during an adjustment. Some notice slight discomfort that fades right after. Mild soreness or a headache can follow for a short time, then it passes.
What's That Popping Sound?
It's called joint cavitation: gases like oxygen and nitrogen releasing from the joint. It sounds like cracking your knuckles.
Insurance and Payment
We accept most major insurance providers and will submit your insurance forms for you. Call the office to check whether your plan is accepted. You can pay with insurance, cash, check or a major credit card, and payment plans can be discussed on request.
Booking and Cancellations
Call or email the office, or request an appointment online, and someone from our staff will follow up. If you need to cancel, please give at least 24 hours notice. A fee may apply for a no-show or late cancellation.
