Pregnancy Chiropractic

Gentle, careful adjustments on a pregnancy-safe table that can help ease back, hip and pelvic pain.

How Pregnancy Changes
Your Back and Pelvis
As your baby grows, your body shifts to make room, and your lower back carries much of the new weight.

Softer ligaments
Your body releases the hormone relaxin, which softens the ligaments in your pelvis to prepare for delivery. They give the spine less support, and other joints can lose some stability as well.
A deeper low back curve
As your belly grows, the curve in your lower back increases and many women tilt backward to balance the weight. That posture puts extra pressure on the low back and hips, and the neck and upper back often work harder too.
Pressure on the sciatic nerve
Changes during pregnancy can press on the sciatic nerve directly in the low back, or indirectly when the piriformis muscle in the buttock tightens. Either way, pain can run from the buttock down the leg.
