What Is
Peripheral Neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy occurs when the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord become damaged or don’t function normally.
How it can feel
Numbness, tingling, burning or pain in the feet, legs or hands, which can affect balance and daily activities.
The role of circulation
These nerves rely on a network of tiny blood vessels for oxygen and nutrients, and reduced circulation is one factor researchers have linked to nerve damage.
Many possible causes
Diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, certain medications, injury and other health conditions can all play a part, so understanding the cause comes first.
Options
We Offer
Each option is explained at your consultation, including what current research shows.

Nutritional Therapy
Certain nutrients, such as B vitamins, play a role in normal nerve health, and deficiencies can contribute to neuropathy symptoms. Our providers can review your nutrition and discuss whether testing or dietary changes may be appropriate.

Shockwave Therapy
Acoustic sound waves applied to the skin. Certain shockwave devices are FDA-cleared for uses such as temporary relief of minor muscle aches and pain and increasing local blood circulation. Research on neuropathy is ongoing.

Laser Therapy
Specific wavelengths of light applied to the skin. Certain laser devices are FDA-cleared for the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and for temporarily increasing local blood circulation.

Red Light Therapy
Also called photobiomodulation, red light therapy uses low-level red and near-infrared light. It is being studied for its effects on circulation and tissue health, including in people with neuropathy.

Vibration Therapy
Gentle mechanical vibration applied to the body. Researchers are studying its possible effects on circulation, balance and sensation, and research is still developing.

Regenerative Medicine
An area of research on how the body repairs its own tissues. These approaches are not FDA-approved for neuropathy, and research is ongoing. Our providers can explain what current studies show.
